All About Me
Raised in rural Pennsylvania, Carey Ann began her love affair with the
theatre at the age twelve making her debut in the chorus of the Wizard of Oz
(stepping into the ruby slippers herself a few years later). Miss Fisher
cultivated a distinguished career with a local theatre company, appearing in several starring roles
such as Laurey in Oklahoma!, Aldonza in Man of La
Mancha, and as Tzeitel (even Dead Grandmother Tzeitel!)in Fiddler on the
Roof. With a maturing, pure soprano voice and a three octave range, she
couldn't help setting her sights on something bigger and better, and with
encouragement of family, friends, and theatrical colleagues she set her eyes
on the Big Apple.
At the age of 19, Carey Ann accepted a scholarship to attend the integrated program at
The American Musical Dramatic Academy in New York City,
focusing on acting technique, ballet, tap, jazz, and theatre styles of
dance, as well as working with private voice teacher on
musical theatre & opera. Becoming known at school as "the girl with the
high notes," Carey Ann found herself leaping for projects that would
challenge her from Shakespeare to classical arias, and enjoyed
every moment that she spent in school.
After graduating school, Carey Ann found herself needing a change of
scenery, and decided to move to Boston, where she found success working with
regional and professional theatre companies. Most recently Carey Ann has been
seen gracing the stage as Laurey (yes a 2nd time) in Oklahoma! with critics
claiming, "the two leads in this show are perfectly cast with their fabulous
voices, impeccable acting, and strong dancing ability. Carey Ann Fisher, is
splendid as Laurey. She gives the character a backbone so she is able to
stand up for herself as well as being sweet and tender when needed. Carey's
soprano voice is superb and soars off the charts on the duet with Curly,
"People Will Say We're in Love," and her solos "Many A New Day," and "Out of
My Dreams" which leads into the dream ballet segment which she does her own
dancing wonderfully, too." She also had the opportunity to be seen the
regional premiere of the Full Monty, and also to grace the stage as the fiery
Kate in Cole Porter's Kiss Me Kate.
She is pleased and honored to be sharing her journey, and will be sure to
update everyone upon news of any future shows & concerts she will be
participating in.
"Music is the height of human artistic endeavor, and I feel very honored
to be a part of it."
